Gajendra's family appeals for Kejriwal to 'personally' oversee investigation

Following the public suicide of farmer Gajendra Singh in the national capital, his relatives on Friday appealed to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to personally look into the investigation.

Dausa (Rajasthan): Following the public suicide of farmer Gajendra Singh in the national capital, his relatives on Friday appealed to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to personally look into the investigation.

"I came to know just now that Arvind Kejriwal has expressed his regret over the incident. I would like to tell Arvind Kejriwal that he should keep politics aside and help the ongoing investigation into this matter as a human being," Gajendra's brother Virendra Singh told ANI.

"There are so many things which are yet to be clarified. My brother was not that kind of person, he had gone there to put across the views of the farmers. We need clarity on what happened on that day and how the incident took place...The true tribute for my brother would be a thorough and fair investigation in this matter, and I hope that government will take action against those found responsible," he added.

Meanwhile, Gajendra's sister Rekha alleged that he was provoked to commit suicide and hinted at a conspiracy.

"My brother is no more, and Kejriwal ji did not stop his rally when my brother was dying, what is the use of an apology now... Why would my brother do it? Somebody has provoked him, there is a conspiracy," she said.

Kejriwal had earlier in the day expressed regret over continuing with his speech after Gajendra had committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree during an Aam Aadmi Party rally against the Land Acquisition Bill in New Delhi.

As per reports, a suicide note was found that revealed the farmer, who had three children, was banished from his house after his crop was damaged. He took the extreme step because he had no means of support his family.
