Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok
Gehlot today said that misuse of information accessed under
Right to Information (RTI) Act for personal motives should be
discouraged.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the
new building of Rajasthan Information Commission here, he said
the RTI plays an important role in bringing transparency in
governance and eradicating corruption but the practice of
misusing information obtained through the RTI must be
discouraged.
He said it is unfortunate that attacks on RTI activists
have increased in recent times and stressed such matters must
be dealt with effectively.
He said Rajasthan Public Service Guarantee Act is being
implemented in the state from November 14 to ensure time-bound
public service of certain departments.
