Rajasthan Government has given official recognition to transgenders in allotment process of various housing schemes in the state.

The department of Urban Development and Housing had issued an order on October 14 directing all civic bodies and Housing Board to introduce the column for third gender as 'Others' in application forms of all respective housing schemes.

"All the civic bodies, Rajasthan Housing Board, UIT's and other department of state government dealing in housing projects have been asked to introduce the column for third gender in application forms for housing schemes," UDH Joint Secretary Rajendra Singh said.

The decision was taken on the recommendation of a committee constituted by the Supreme Court, he added.

The application forms will have three columns--one each for male and female and the third for 'others'.
