New Delhi: The micro-blogging site Twitter continues to be the world’s largest social networking platform for live or public conversations. A hashtag is used in messages on micro-blogging and social networking services with the hash character (or number sign), #, to form a label.

In India, even the fastest rising Twitter hashtag trends can be seen with a mixture from sports, political campaigns or any unfortunate events.

During 2014 FIFA, #WorldCup was leading the trends which was followed by #MH370, the disappeared Malaysian Airlines flight.

On the other hand, #Mufflerman, campaign led by the fans of the Aam Aadmi Party in support of leader Arvind Kejriwal was trending and gathered momentum towards the end of the year.

To extend support and help in disaster management measures #KashmirFloods relief operations was tweeted in the social networking site. Even #MUFC was trending which was twitted by many of the Manchester United Football Club Indian fans.
