Google on Saturday celebrated the Iranian (Persian) New Year 'Navroz' in its signature style with a colourful doodle.

New Delhi: Google on Saturday celebrated the Iranian (Persian) New Year 'Navroz' in its signature style with a colourful doodle.

Visitors were greeted with a doodle on the Google search page which depicts bright flowers, bumblebees and caterpillars, signifying the onset of colourful spring season. When you bring the mouse on the word Google, it reads Navroz Mubarak.

The doodle also features a tab, which when clicked allows the user to share the same on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.

Navroz marks the first day of spring or Equinox and the beginning of the year in the Persian calendar. Nowruz or Navroz, which originated in Persia, is celebrated by people from diverse ethnic communities all over the world.

In India, Parsis, Kashmiris and Shia Muslims celebrate the festival with great enthusiasm and fervour.
