New Delhi: In times as these when women's safety is a burning issue in the country, the government has come up with a new initiative. In order to ensure easy access to help to women in need, the Narendra Modi government has asked all mobile phone manufactures to install an emergency panic button on phones sold in the country .

To ensure women safety, umpteen number of apps have been launched but they normally take too long to access during emergencies. Keeping this in mind, the government is in favour of a single-touch emergency system i.e a panic button which would be much more simpler and convenient to use.

How will it work:

As soon as you sense any danger, you just need to press the panic button without even unlocking the phone.

The panic button will send an SMS to a set of numbers (family members, emergency contact numbers) and also provide location information.

Unlike safety apps which only works on smartphones, this new button can be provided even on basic phones.

In order to make it child-proof or prevent accidental operation, the button will require a long press or a double press.
