Woolly mammoth found frozen for 39000 years to be displayed in Japan

Tokyo: An almost perfectly conserved frozen mammoth was presented to the media in Yokohama on Tuesday.

The 3-meter-tall mammoth, which was excavated in 2010 from the permafrost in eastern Siberia, will be put on exhibit from Saturday in Yokohama , the Japan Times reported.

The member of the extinct species is a 10-year-old female and is believed to have died about 39,000 years ago.

The solidified body was named `Yuka` after Russia`s Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, where it was discovered and is thought to be one of the world`s largest.

Yuka has a long trunk, arms and legs preserved in nearly perfect state.
