10 killed in attack on bus in Pakistan

Gunmen intercepted a passenger bus and gunned down 10 people and injured five more in Pakistan`s restive southwestern Balochistan province in what officials said was an incident of ethnic killings.

The gunmen, who were riding motorcycles, intercepted
the bus travelling from Lahore to Quetta in Aab-e-Gum area
this morning.

The gunmen asked all passengers to get out of the bus
and opened fire at 15 people after identifying them as
residents of Punjab province, police said.

The bodies and the injured were taken to the Civil
Hospital in provincial capital Quetta.

Police described the attack as an incident of targeted
killing on the occasion of Pakistan`s Independence Day.

Baloch nationalist groups engaged in an insurgency
have attacked people of Punjabi origin on several occasions.
