Peshawar: A total of 229 policemen have been
killed and 578 injured while combating terrorism and militancy
in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, a senior official
said on Thursday.
About 211 policemen were killed and 518 injured last year
while 18 lost their lives and 60 wounded this year, the
official said.
Last year, 138 terrorists were killed while 19 have been
eliminated so far this year, he said.
There were 47 suicide attacks in NWFP last year and seven
such strikes so far this year, the official said.
Police seized 5,898 kg of explosive materials, 20 suicide
jackets, 14,301 grenades and dynamite and 656 rocket launchers
during the past year, he said.
