Peshawar: A soldier and 30 Taliban
fighters were killed when security forces clashed with
militants trying to halt their advance in the volatile Orakzai
tribal region in northwest Pakistan on Wednesday, officials said.
The clash occurred in Dabori area of Orakzai Agency
bordering Afghanistan.
The militants attacked troops who were conducting a
combing operation.
Four soldiers and 15 rebels were injured in the
skirmish.
A Taliban commander was among the dead militants.
Security forces took control of Zakhtan area after
the clash, the officials said.
