Armed men on motorcycles opened fire on a car in the city`s Orangi town area killing five people, including a 12- year-old boy, police said.
"The target was apparently Awami National Party leader, Dr Abrar," Senior police official Javed Odho said.

He said the five killed belonged to one family.

"They were returning from interior Sindh where they had gone for fishing," he said.

One person was shot dead near Makkah chowk area.

Two bodies were found in Karachi`s Bin Qasim Town on Link Road. The victims, who could not be identified, had been shot dead.

In another incident two students were injured outside a religious seminary when a home made bomb in a bag exploded.

"The boys tried to open the bag lying on the road and the bomb exploded but they are out of danger," an official said.

Meanwhile, CID police claimed to have recovered a car with nearly 100 kilogrammes of explosives in Mangopir area. Of the city.

"The car was seized during a raid this evening and it was fitted with explosives obviously meant for some terrorist activity," Umar Khatab, a CID officer said.

The security agencies also arrested two members of a militant outfit from there.
