BAF officer killed, pilot critical in trainer jet

A Bangladeshi Air Force trainer jet crashed in central Tangail district on Sunday, killing a flight officer.

crashed in central Tangail district on Sunday, killing a flight
officer and critically injuring the pilot.

"Flight Lieutenant Reza Sharif succumbed to his wounds
(at a nearby military hospital) and the pilot of the aircraft,
Squadron Leader Mamunur Rashid is being treated with critical
wounds," AKM Hafizur Rahman, the district police chief, said.

He said the L-39 aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force
crashed in a marsh in Madhupur area apparently due to a
technical fault.

The pilot and the BAF official were admitted to the
nearby hospital at the Ghatail military cantonment.

BAF officials, who have reached the spot, said an
investigation has been launched into the crash.
