Dhaka: Thousands of people gathered Thursday at a factory site near here to remember the victims of Bangladesh`s worst industrial tragedy that killed at least 1,135 people, mostly garment workers, last year.
Relatives of the victims and labour activists were joined by thousands of people at the place where the ill-fated Rana Plaza high-rise on the outskirts of Dhaka once stood, bdnews24.com reported.

A year ago on this day the eight-storey building, where a garment factory was located, collapsed, leaving 1,135 people dead.
Labour organisations raised slogans demanding execution of the building`s owner, Sohel Rana.

Relatives and victims raised demands for compensation.

The local administration, including Dhaka district`s deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police, paid homage at a memorial at the site around 9 a.m.
