Bangladesh to act against those who delay court cases

The disposal gets delayed as witnesses are not brought before court in time.

Dhaka: The Bangladesh government will make rules to take action against those found responsible for causing delays in disposal of cases at lower courts, said Law Minister Shafique Ahmed on Saturday.

The disposal of cases gets delayed as witnesses are not brought before the court in time and police do not submit their investigation reports on time, the Daily Star quoted Ahmed as saying on Saturday.

The law minister said the cases have to be quickly disposed of to give justice and to reduce the harassment of litigants.
He said delay in settling cases was a severe problem in the country and public prosecutors have to find out the reasons behind the delay and address these.
