Bomb hurled at Dhaka University VC

Dhaka: The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka
University escaped unhurt when unidentified miscreants hurled
an improvised device targeting him inside the campus, police
have said.

A "cocktail" like explosive went off just two-feet
away from Prof A A M S Arefin Siddique as he was waiting for
some foreign guests in front of his car near the Institute of
Education and Research on the campus, police and university
officials said yesterday.
"I`m not sure who threw the device or who were behind
the incident," said Siddique, a professor of mass
communication and journalism, according to the state-run BSS
news agency.
Police said they launched an investigation into the
incident while the abortive attack sparked a tension in the
