Explosives found wrapped around the body of a dead militant

Bomb disposal experts were dispatched to a hospital in northwest Pakistan after authorities discovered a huge quantity of explosives strapped to the body of a possible suicide bomber, killed in a gun battle.

The body of the militant, who appeared to be a
foreigner, was brought to the district hospital in Hangu
following the gun battle late yesterday.

Doctors at the hospital said they detected explosives
and other materials wrapped around the body.

Officials of the bomb disposal squad were then called
in to remove the explosives.

The militant was killed in a gun battle that occurred
in the area between Shahoo Khel and Orakzai tribal region,
where the army is conducting an offensive against Taliban
fighters.
