Former Nepal prime minister and Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala fell ill today after water accumulated in his lungs, and will be taken to Singapore for treatment.

Kathmandu: Former Nepal prime minister and Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala fell ill today after water accumulated in his lungs, and will be taken to Singapore for treatment.
The 86-year-old Koirala is also suffering from a bout of cold and fever, his aide Suresh Chalise said. The former prime minister will be taken to Singapore for medical check-up, as per the advice of his personal doctors, he said.
However, there is no cause for worry, he added. Dr Arjun Karki and Man Bahadur Khatri Chhetri are taking care of the former Prime Minister.

Koirala was prime minister for four times, during 1991-1994, 1998-1999, 2000-2001, 2006-2008.
