Islamabad: In a relief for ex-President Pervez Musharraf, a trial court approved his bail request in connection with the murder of Abdul Rasheed Ghazi during Lal Masjid Operation in 2007 on Monday, reports said.

Musharraf`s bail plea was approved by Additional Session Judge, Wajid Ali, Pakistani media reported.

Musharraf was arrested on October 10 after a case was registered in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against him in connection with the Lal Masjid murder case.

His arrest came after the slain cleric Abdul Rasheed Ghazi`s son Haroon Rasheed had filed a petition regarding the murder.
In 2007, Musharraf-led-government had carried out Lal Masjid operation to demolish the controversial mosque. The operation lasted for eight days killing more than 50 Pakistani troops and seminary students.

The former military strongman is currently being held at his farmhouse on the outskirts of Islamabad, guarded by nearly 300 security personnel, including soldiers and snipers.
