National tourism fair kicks off in Nepal

In an effort to bolster tourism and attract at least one million visitors annually in Nepal, a three-day fair has kicked-off here in the city.

Kathmandu: In an effort to bolster tourism
and attract at least one million visitors annually in Nepal, a
three-day fair has kicked-off here in the city.

Altogether 83 stalls have been established in the Third
National Tourism Fair which began yesterday and is being
organised at the initiative of Nepal Tourism Board at
Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.
Various items like garments, carpets, rugs, woollen
mattress, idols, toys, bags, wooden pots, handicrafts and
decorative goods are being showcased at different stalls.

Products representing ethnic culture of diverse places
like Mechi to Mahakali are on display at the stalls.

The event would help promote domestic tourism, discover
new tourist destinations and enhance the lifestyle of rural
people, the officials of the Nepal Tourism Board said.
Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sharat Singh
Bhandari inaugurated the fair and said the government wants to
enhance the lifestyle of its citizens by prioritising Nepal
tourism promotion campaign which aims to attract around one
million tourists.

He asked the private sector to actively participate in
tourism sector, which is he said is the back bone of Nepalese
economy.
