One killed and 12 injured in Lanka explosion

An explosion ripped through a school bus in northwestern Sri Lanka on Friday, killing one girl and wounding 11 other students and an elderly person injured.

Colombo: An explosion ripped through a school bus in northwestern Sri Lanka on Friday, killing one girl and wounding 11 other students and an elderly person injured.
The incident took place Kurungala district, 100 kms north of the capital and police suspect a personal dispute to be the cause of the explosion in the bus.

The driver of the bus and 12 students were taken to hospital after the explosion where one girl student succumbed to her injuries.

Police and army bomb disposal teams were conducting further investigation into the incident.

The blast was the first since five months after the government declared victory over Tamil tigers who waged an insurgency for over a decade.
