Pak airstrikes, clash kill 18 militants

At least 18 militants were on Monday killed, including a key TTP commander, and over 30 injured in airstrikes on their hideouts near Pak-Afghan border and clash between two rival militant groups in northwest Pakistan`s restive tribal region.

Security forces have launched a big operation clean up against militants in border areas in Bajaur agency, security sources said.

The gunship choppers pounded the hideouts of the militants in Kaga Pass and Manrozangal areas near Afghan border in Bajaur agency.

The militants hideouts were also pounded with the artillery.

The sources said 15 militants were killed and 35 injured in the operation, in which insurgents and security forces are using heavy weapons against each other.

In a separate incident, at least three militants including TTP commander Pir Saifoor, were killed in infighting between two militants group of Orakzai agency today.

According to reports, the militants of Orakzai Freedom Movement, headed by Hafiz Saeed, and Tehreek-e-Taliban Orakzai clashed in Kunar province of Afghanistan.
