Islamabad: Pakistan on Monday handed over two suspected al Qaeda operatives, wanted in connection with a recent suicide attack on Saudi Interior Minister, to Saudi Arabia, media reports said.
The two men – identified only as Ali and Siddiq – were wanted for a recent suicide attack on the Saudi Interior Minister, Express 24/7 channel quoted its sources as saying.
Dawn news channel reported that the two suspects were sons of a senior al Qaeda leader who had planned the suicide attack. The nationality of the two men could not immediately be ascertained.
There was no official word on the development. It was also not known when the two suspects had been arrested by Pakistani authorities.
Reports suggested that the two men were handed over to Saudi Arabia in exchange for five Pakistanis who were arrested some time ago on charges of smuggling drugs into the kingdom. Saudi Arabia recently agreed to release the five persons who belong to the same family.
