Pakistan: Gilani bitten by ``small house`` bug

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani would soon be vacating the multi-billion rupee luxurious Prime Minister’s House.

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani would soon be vacating the multi-billion rupee luxurious Prime Minister’s House and move into a small house, Finance Minister Dr Hafeez Shaikh has said.
According to The Nation, Shaikh said the Prime Minister’s House would be converted into an institute as part of the government’s austerity drive. He, however, did not give a timeframe for the measure.

Several months ago, former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif had also said that even if he gets another opportunity to rule the country, he would not like to live in the Prime Minister’s House from where he had been thrown out without any justification. This was a clear reference to his ouster on October 12, 1999 at the hands of General Pervez Musharraf.

Sharif further said if voted to power again, he would like to live in a small house.
