Pakistan-TTP should focus on talks not ceasefire

A member from the Taliban negotiating committee said Sunday that the Pakistan government and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) should focus on the peace talks rather than on a ceasefire.

Islamabad: A member from the Taliban negotiating committee said Sunday that the Pakistan government and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) should focus on the peace talks rather than on a ceasefire.


Maulana Samiul Haq, chief Taliban mediator, said that those talking about military action were "enemies of Pakistan" and war benefited no one, Dawn online reported.


Haq also accused the media of advocating war.

Known as the `Father of the Taliban`, Haq said both the government and the TTP would have to unite in order to douse the artificial barriers created every time there was progress in the negotiations.
