Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Arif Alvi has tendered an apology on Twitter for his party chief Imran Khan`s "35 punctures" remark, admitting that it was based on "rumours".

Lahore: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Arif Alvi has tendered an apology on Twitter for his party chief Imran Khan`s "35 punctures" remark, admitting that it was based on "rumours".

"It is time to apologise for 35 punctures. Many rumours regarding source of information & content were afloat and I believed some of them," he tweeted.

According to Pakistan Today, there had been a lot of controversy over Khan`s "35 punctures" remark. However, the PTI chief has not apologised for it yet, said sources.

Khan has said that the remarks were "of a political nature".

Alvi said that they should have checked before making an accusation.Khan had vehemently criticised Najam Sethi, the caretaker chief minister of Punjab, during the May 2013 general elections of alleged rigging in 35 constituencies of Punjab.
