Colombo: Soon Sri Lankan Parliament will conduct Yoga classes for its parliamentarians.

Malini Fonseka, the actor turned MP, who initiated the programme, told a local weekly that classes will be conducted when sessions are held and interested lawmakers could attend them.

Classes will start from January next year and conducted twice a week.

Initial meeting to kick off the programme was discussed with yoga instructors at parliament complex, a parliament official said.

The programme themed "Yoga for Body and Mind" is planned to start with the help of parliamentary affairs ministry.

Yoga exercises are popular among the higher class of the Sri Lankan society as a stress releasing and healthy practice.
