Islamabad: At least four people were killed
and four other injured on Saturday in a suicide attack on a joint
convoy of Pakistani security forces and pro-government
volunteers in the restive Bajaur tribal region near
Afghanistan border, media reports said.

The bomber triggered his explosive-laden vehicle near
the convoy in Bajaur region this evening, Express TV reported.

According to reports, the attack killed four civilians
and wounded four security personnel.

No group has claimed responsibility, but Taliban
militants regularly attack security forces in the volatile
tribal region.

There was no official word on the reports.
Bajaur tribal region had been once the stronghold of
Taliban militants and the security forces conducted major
operation in 2008-2009.

The militants now carry out targeted attacks on the
forces and pro-government tribal elders.

In December, a suicide bomber killed 47 people and
injured over 100 in an attack on a World Food Programme ration
distribution point in the tribal agency.
