Islamabad: Several extremist and hardline religious groups on Thursday warned they would block NATO supply routes to Afghanistan if the Pakistan government does not take action against the makers of the anti-Islam film in three days.
The groups made the threat during a conference held in the Pakistani capital to discuss the film.
Addressing the meet, Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed demanded that US President Barack Obama should ban the film.
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Munawar Hassan said the US should frame laws to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
In a statement released after the conference, the groups said a meeting of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference should be convened to discuss the film and.
It said that if the UN Security Council fails to frame a law against blasphemy, Pakistan should leave the world body and form a separate "Muslim United Nations", the statement said.
