Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari will
embark on a two-day official visit to Myanmar tomorrow where
he will call on pro-democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi and hold
talks with the country`s top leadership to boost bilateral
economic and trade cooperation.

Zardari will specially travel from Myanmar`s capital
Nay Pyi Taw to Yangon to meet Noble Peace Prize winner Suu
Kyi.

He will also visit the mausoleum of the last Mughal
emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar in Yangon before returning home.

The President "will share happiness with Aung San Suu Kyi
in the beginning of the moments of her triumph", presidential
spokesman Farhatullah Babar said today.

Zardari is expected to discuss the promotion of economic
cooperation and measures to enhance consultation and
cooperation in the multilateral arena during his meeting with
Myanmar President U Thein Sein, Babar said.

His talks with President U Thein Sein will also focus on
"building a comprehensive and mutually beneficial"
partnership.

"Myanmar is an important member of ASEAN and President
Zardari will raise the issue of upgrading institutional
relations with the ASEAN to full dialogue partnership," Babar
said.

The two sides are expected to consider ways to enhance
two-way trade and promote cooperation in the oil and gas
sector.

The pro-democracy icon, who was released from a long
stretch of house arrest in late 2010, is set to contest for a
seat in parliament in the latest sign of change in the country
under military rule for decades.
