Madurai: Action would be taken against those
involved in the brutal murder of a sub-inspector recently,
Director General of Police Letika Saran said.
“Action will be taken against all the guilty persons,” she
said when asked about the involvement of a retired
sub-inspector in the murder of R Vetrivel who was attacked with
bombs and sickles in a case of mistaken identity.
Details of the murder were being collected. A list of police
personnel who had links with criminals, were also being
prepared, she said, adding, action would be taken against them.
Referring to Southern Tamil Nadu, especially Kanyakumari,
Tirunelveli, Tuticorin districts accounting for 40 to 45 percent of murders in 2009,she said most were due to family feud.
"Unless some one lodged the complaint, murder due to
family disputes cannot be prevented," she told reporters
here Friday evening.
Complaints given by women would be registered not only in
all women Police stations, but other stations also. "There
should not be any delay,`` she said.
On the proposal to increase the number of "108
ambulance services", she said more ambulance services would
facilitate swift shifting of the injured within the golden
hour. Besides police were also assisting, she added.
