Bail plea of ex-minister's aide rejected in Tamil Nadu official's suicide case

A local court Thursday rejected the bail application of a Chief Engineer in the Agriculture Department who was arrested in connection with the alleged suicide of department official S Muthukumarasamy.

Tiruneveli: A local court Thursday rejected the bail application of a Chief Engineer in the Agriculture Department who was arrested in connection with the alleged suicide of department official S Muthukumarasamy.

Principal and District Sessions Judge M Nazir Ahamed rejected the bail application of Senthil on the ground that the investigation was in the preliminary stage.

Senthil was arrested along with former Agriculture Minister Agri Krishnamurthy on April 4 in connection with the case.

On February 20, Muthukurmarasamy allegedly jumped in front of a train and was killed.

Political parties had alleged that the official committed suicide because he was under pressure from the minister while recruiting seven drivers.

The case was transferred from the Railway police to the CB-CID which registered cases against the duo under various sections of IPC. Both were produced before the magistrate who remanded them in custody till April 17.
