Coimbatore: Man arrested for cutting sandalwood tress

Coimbatore: One person was arrested today on charges of cutting sandalwood trees grown in the Forest College here, police said.

A police patrol party engaged in vehicle checking found a person moving in a suspicious manner in Bharathi Park area and interrogation revealed that he had come out of jail recently after completing sentence for cutting sandalwood tree from the Corporation park, City Police Commissioner C Sylendra Babu told reporters here.

After coming out from Jail, he along with some others, had indulged in cutting sandalwood tree grown in Forest College here, police said.

He has been handed over to forest department officials, police said.
