Madurai: A young couple and their two-year old daughter were killed when a speeding tractor knocked them down while walking on a road in neighbouring Virudhunagar district, triggering a nearly two-hour long road roko by villagers agitated over the incident.
27-year old Bose and his wife Banumathi (25) along with their child were returning home after taking bath in a well when the brick-ladden tractor ranover them at Veerasolam, about 60 km from here.
The accident sparked tension with the people of the village blocking the Veerasolam-Abiram road demanding the arrest of the tractor driver and compensation for the victims` family.
Tiruchuli DSP Subramaniyam pacified the villagers and assure action.
