Chennai: Coming to the rescue of an 87-year old woman, a court here today has directed the police to arrest the her son and his wife if the duo did not comply with a conciliatory pact inked among them.

A conciliatory pact was arrived at among Rosemary Angelina alias Lilly, 87, her son Roch Luis Francis and his wife, Martha Francis after the octogenarian approached a Metropolitan Magistrate Court here.

It was agreed that the elderly lady will be allowed to live peacefully in the house.

In September last, Metropolitan Magistrate K Anandavel here had directed Roch Luis Francis, and Martha Francis, not to prevent the elderly woman's entry into the house till such time the case was settled.

Even after the pact was inked following the court's last September direction, Roch Luis Francis and Martha allegedly harassed the elderly woman and even threw away Rosemary?s belongings prompting the octogenarian to approach the court again.

When the case came up for hearing, Magistrate K Anandavel directed Protection officer, Social Welfare Department and Police to execute the conciliatory pact.

The magistrate said "if the man and his wife fail to comply with the conciliatory pact, either arrest them or remove them from the shared household."
