Chennai: Lawmakers belonging to DMDK were suspended Thursday from attending the ongoing Tamil Nadu assembly session due to chaos that followed certain remarks made by a member against former chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

Deputy Leader of opposition A. Mohanraj, of the DMDK, made a remark against Jayalalithaa to which the ruling party members took offense.

He made the comment as a retort to an earlier comment by an AIADMK member against DMDK leader A Vijaykant.

Objecting to the remark, members of the ruling AIADMK urged Speaker P.Dhanapal to take action against Mohanraj.

The remark was expunged by the speaker, who also ordered the eviction of Mohanraj.

At this juncture other DMDK members gathered around Mohanraj and resisted his eviction.

Soon there was chaos and the speaker ordered the marshals to evict DMDK members and suspended them.
