Former minister to agitate on issues concerning Nilgris District

Former Union minister and DMK MP, A Raja, on Tuesday said he, after consultations with the party chief M Karunanidhi, would chalk out plans for a series of agitation on issues concerning Nilgiris District, including Hindustan Photo Film (HPF) and price of tea leaves.

Udhagamandalam: Former Union minister and DMK MP, A Raja, on Tuesday said he, after consultations with the party chief M Karunanidhi, would chalk out plans for a series of agitation on issues concerning Nilgiris District, including Hindustan Photo Film (HPF) and price of tea leaves.

During his tenure as member of Parliament from Nilgiris, he had initiated various plans for the revival of HPF and also fixing minimum support price for green leaves, Raja told reporters here.

However, the State Government and the UPA Government at its final stage neglected the issues which would be taken up during the proposed agitation, he said.

On the defeat of DMK in the recent Lok Sabha polls, Raja said the anti-Congress mood went against the party, which was an ally for the last nine years.

Even if DMK had fought the polls in alliance with Congress, the party would have met the same fate, he said.
