Healthy Tamil Nadu scheme launched

Under the scheme financially poor diabetic patients in Tamil Nadu, the worst affected state, are treated free of cost.

Thanjavur: Union minister of state for Finance S S Palanimanicakam today inaugurated the Tamil Nadu`s government`s `Nalamana Thamizhagam` (healthy Tamil Nadu) scheme through which financially poor diabetic patients in Tamil Nadu, the worst affected state, are treated free of
cost.

Speaking at the inauguration of the scheme at Vandiyar Iruppu village Primary Health Centre,he said 60 PHCs and 309 sub PHCs in the district would undertake medical check-ups for people in villages who had completed 30 years of age. Nurses would check people with medical aids supplied to them.

Those found have high blood pressure or diabetic would be given
periodical treatment, the minister said.
