Chennai: Heroin worth about Rs one crore in the international market has been seized from a Kuwait-bound passenger at the international airport here, airport authorities said.
Acting on a tip off, Narcotics Control Bureau officials checked the luggage of Anandan Veeraiah late last night and found the heroin concealed inside. The contraband was seized and he was arrested .
A case under relevant laws was registered against Anandan, a resident of Chittor in Andhra Pradesh, about 140 km from here.
He is being questioned by NCB sleuths, they said.
