Muslim Jamaat demands CB-CID probe into calf head incident

The local Muslim Jamaat leaders have sought a CB-CID probe into the March 1 incident in front of the RSS office complex, where a severed head of a calf was found, alleging torture by police of the accused.

Madurai: The local Muslim Jamaat leaders on Friday
sought a CB-CID probe into the March 1 incident in front of
the RSS office complex, where a severed head of a calf was
found, alleging torture by police of the accused.

Khaziar A Syed Khaja Mohaideen told reporters that of the
five arrested on March 12 by the special team formed to
investigate the case, the physical condition of two accused
persons had worsened and they had been admitted to hospital.

Demanding a CB-CID probe into the incident for a "proper
enquiry", Mohaideen called for stern action against the
officials who were taking "one-sided action".

Police after arresting the accused on March 12 had said the
incident was in retaliation for an alleged act of desecration
of a place of worship in the city a few months ago.

A mentally challenged person had then been arrested in
connection with the case, but was subsequently set free.

The RSS had described it as an act of "anti-national
forces" ahead of Sivaratri and urged police to deal with such
forces with an iron hand.
