Cuddalore: DMK president M Karunanidhi on Wednesday said people are "dissatisfied" over the steps taken by the
Tamil Nadu government in the wake of Cyclone Thane and said
his party would take up the issue of relief measures with the
Centre.

The government should expedite relief works, Karunanidhi,
who is on a visit to Cyclone Thane ravaged Cuddalore and
Puducherry, told reporters here.

Expressing dissatisfaction over implementation of relief
measures, he said, "I will continue to urge the Central
government to support the state government in its steps to
provide relief to the affected people."

The DMK patriarch distributed sarees, dhotis and woollen
bed-sheets to villagers who alleged no official had visited
them and that there was no power and drinking water supply for
the past few days.

Karunanidhi said his party would provide a financial relief
of Rs 50 lakh to cyclone-affected people.
