Chennai: With a view to decongesting roads in Chennai city and its suburbs, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday allocated various projects including road-over-bridges and skywalk in and around the metropolis estimated at Rs 109 crore.
The projects include a Rs 40 crore flyover at Koyambedu, a bustling area from where inter and intra-state buses are operated, Rs 20 crore skywalk connecting Central, Park railway station and the Government General Hospital located there and a bridge across river Cooum at Rs eight crore, a state government release here said.

Traffic snarls and long queues of vehicles on the arterial roads of Chennai have become common sight with speedening up of Metro Rail-related works which have resulted in traffic diversions and more roads being declared one-way.
