Rs.1.5 crore worth ketamine seized from air passenger

A Singapore-bound passenger was arrested Thursday at the airport on the charge of attempting to smuggle 14.5 kg of ketamine, valued at Rs 1.5 crore in international market, to Thailand, police said.

to smuggle 14.5 kg of ketamine, valued at Rs 1.5 crore in
international market, to Thailand, police said.

Customs and immigration officials seized the drug, kept
concealed in cloth bags, during a check of the baggage of
Selvamani, a native of Chennai.

The drug was said to be delivered in Thailand where the
substance has good market, they said.

Ketamine is usually used as a legal anaesthetic but can be
illegally synthesised to produce recreational drugs.
