Warangal: In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman here was allegedly stripped and paraded naked by the kin of her husband's first wife.
The incident took place in Warangal district's DC Thanda village.
As per PTI, Ravi, a farmer, already married to one Swaroopa, secretly married another woman in March last year, Wardhannapet Circle Inspector Satish said.
Ravi then started staying with his second wife in Warangal.
When Swaroopa pleaded for justice, the village panchayat asked Ravi to pay Rs 7.5 lakh to her and her two children.
During the hearing, a heated argument broke out between Ravi and Swaroopa.
Ravi's second wife, who was pregnant and present at the spot, argued in favour of her husband.
At this time, Swaroopa's kin allegedly attacked Ravi first and then they attacked his second wife. The kin stripped and paraded and injured her, police said.
A case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered against nine persons in this regard.
Swaroopa, Ravi and four others have been detained, the officer said, adding three others are absconding.
Police said the victim was admitted to a local hospital and probe is on.
