Puducherry: Unidentified miscreants on Tuesday pelted stones at two guest houses run by Aurobindo Ashram here, damaging some glass windows, in a fresh attack in the wake of recent eviction and alleged suicide of some inmates.

None was injured in the incident, police said adding a case had been registered and efforts were on to nab the culprits.

The Union Territory has been witnessing sporadic incidents of violence targeting the Ashram-run organisations and guest houses since the last few days in the wake of the 'suicide' by two of the five sisters along with their mother following their eviction by police from a residential quarters of the Ashram on an order of the supreme court.

All the five sisters along with their parents, hailing from Bihar, allegedly jumped into the sea on December 18 following their eviction. While two of them and their mother drowned, the other four were rescued by local fishermen.

This triggered attacks and protests against the ashram, prompting police to post pickets at the ashram premises and vulnerable areas.
