First multi-agency patrol by Andaman & Nicobar command

Port Blair: A special multi-agency Jaan
Pehchaan patrol, which ended here yesterday, was conducted by
Andaman & Nicobar Command to prevent unauthorised occupation
of uninhabitated islands by poachers and other anti-national
elements.
The patrol, carried out for ten days, comprised members
from all three services and for the first time, involved
police and forest personnel also.

The team embarked LCU-33 for the patrol and operated
from the ship in smaller Gemini boats as and when they went
ashore.

Outram, Henry Lawrence and John Lawrence Islands were
chosen for the patrol keeping in mind the frequency of
poaching in the area.

In another major deviation from the norm, this patrol
stayed overnight in two islands in addition to carrying out
treks for area familiarization and sanitisation.
The patrol remained in constant communication with the
Joint Operations Center at Headquarters Andaman and Nicobar
Command and progressed as per a pre-designed plan.

This initiative is the most recent ever since the ANC
intensified its routine Jaan Pehchaan patrols.
