14 killed as heavy rains lash Uttar Pradesh

Atleast 14 people were killed in rain related incidents in Uttar Pradesh which was lashed by heavy showers since yesterday.

in rain related incidents in Uttar Pradesh which was lashed by
heavy showers since yesterday.

While three persons were killed in Kaushambi, two
deaths each were reported from Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Badaun,
Ambedkar Nagar and Sultanpur and one in Ballia district.

Major rivers continued to swell in several districts
of the state and a flood alert has been sounded in a dozen
villages in western Uttar Pradesh due to rise in water level
of river Yamuna.

According to Central Water Commission (CWC), Ganga is
rising in Kanpur, Fafamau and Chatnag in Allahabad, Mirzapur,
Varanasi and Ballia.

Yamuna was rising in Bagpath, Mohana, Mathura, Auraiya
and Kalpi, whereas river Sharda was rising at Sharda Nagar in
Kheri.

Ghagra was swelling at Katarnaighat and Gomti was
rising in Sitapur, Lucknow and Sultanpur.

Uskabazar in Siddharth Nagar district received maximum
224.2 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, followed by 190.6 in
Trimohani in Maharajganj, it said.

Kakrahi in Siddharth Nagar district received 145.2 mm
rainfall, 130 mm in Palliankalan, 100.6 in Bahraich, 122 mm in
Ayodhya, 101.4 in Bansi and 90.2 in Bani in Lucknow district,
the report said.
