23 more cold deaths in Uttar Pradesh, seasons` toll rises to 451

Twenty three more persons died of cold in different districts of Uttar Pradesh since last evening taking the toll this winter to 451 as chilly conditions prevailed on Wednesday in most parts of the state.

Four persons each were killed in Chandauli and Ghazipur
in cold related incidents, three deaths were reported from
Ballia, Gorakhpur and Sitapur and one each from Orai, Bhadoi,
Barabanki, Shahjahanpur, Kannauj and Azamgarh, official
sources here said.
Shahjahanpur, which recorded a minimum temprature of
3.5 degrees Celsius was the coldest place in the state,
followed by Agra, where mercury level dipped to 4.4 degrees C,
Met department officials said here.

While maximum day temprature in Bahraich was 11.6
degree C, 11 degree below normal, Lucknow recorded a maximum
temprature of 17.8 degrees C, which was five notches below
normal, they said.

In Kanpur maximum temprature was 14.8 degrees C, which
was eight degrees below normal.

Similarly, Gorakhpur recorded a maximum of 13.4 degrees
C during day, which was 10 degrees below normal.

Allahabad, recorded a maximum of 17.8 degrees C, which
was six degree below normal, whereas Varanasi recorded a
maximum of 17.6 degrees C, five notches below normal.
Sultanpur recorded a maximum of 13.4 degrees C, which
was nine notches below normal.
