BJP MLA Sangeet Som, an accused in Muzaffarnagar riots, on Sunday alleged that around 125 SP MLAs are in contact with the BJP and they may resign any time resulting in the fall of Akhilesh Yadav's government.

Faizabad: BJP MLA Sangeet Som, an accused in Muzaffarnagar riots, on Sunday alleged that around 125 SP MLAs are in contact with the BJP and they may resign any time resulting in the fall of Akhilesh Yadav's government.

"About 125 SP MLAs have contacted us and they may resign at any time which may result in the fall of Akhilesh government," Som said.

Following Samajwadi Party's debacle in the parliamentary elections in which it won only five seats, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav took steps to overhaul the government that also included dropping "non-performing" ministers.

Reacting to Som's statement, a senior SP leader, on condition of anonymity, said, "After Lok Sabha elections many steps, that have been taken by the SP leadership to improve the image of government and trying to give a good governance, have increased the dissatisfaction in the party."

"However the party is keeping close eyes on those who are planning to shift their loyalties," he said.
