Ayodhya dispute: UP CM meets top officials, reviews situation

Lucknow: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday held a meeting with top officials and reviewed the law and order situation in the backdrop of two stone-laden trucks arriving in Ayodhya on Sunday.

Taking note of media reports in this regard, Yadav summoned top officials of Home and Police departments and directed them to take effective measures to maintain law and order in the state.

"No one should be allowed to vitiate the law and order situation in the state. The matter of Ayodhya dispute is pending in the Supreme Court. The state government will follow the SC order in letter in spirit. No nuisance will be tolerated by anyone in the state," Yadav said.

"You (Police) should keep an eye on rumourmongers and anti-social elements and remain alert," the Chief Minister said.

He also directed to keep social media platforms under careful observation to prevent posting of "objectionable" content.

The state government had yesterday sought a "confidential" report from Intelligence Department on two stone-laden trucks arriving in Ayodhya six months after the VHP announced a nationwide drive to collect stones for construction of Ram temple.
