BJP Kisan Morcha stages protest demanding compensation for rain-hit farmers

 Scores of BJP Kisan Morcha workers on Thursday staged a protest at the collectorate here demanding compensation for farmers whose crops were destroyed in the recent spate of unseasonal rains and hailstorm.

Addressing the protesters, district president Raj Kumar Yadav of Kisan Morcha said that wheat, cereals and vegetable crops have been completely destroyed due to continuous rains and hailstorm in the last fortnight.

State government is least concerned with the miserable plight of cultivators in UP, he said, adding, that the government must compensate the rain-hit farmers to the tune of Rs 25,000 per acre.

City President Manjit Singh said that sugar mill owners must pay arrears of Rs 172 crores to the affected farmers at the earliest.
